radio station links section?

I'd be curious what you guys as well as the Zone staff would think of a page where all the links to the various internet radio stations that Zoners have shows on could be listed. Ideally, it would not only have the link to the website, but also at least one direct link to the broadcast depending on what's available from the broadcaster. I'm not sure how practical this would be, but I see a lot of small internet stations advertised in the Broadcaster's Lounge where particular Zoners have shows or actually run the station, so I think one place where all these links are consolidated might be a good idea. Any opinions or other thoughts?

yes, that sounds pretty good. we could have the blade, that station where they did zone ichon (jamin hits or something) karrie's new station and so on

I could see a link to the web site, but a link to individual shows might be impractical as shows come on at specific times etc.
But, individual show links could still be posted in the broadcasting board.
But, I like the idea of a page with different stations on it.

Good idea.

no bob, not imdividual shows, we means links on the page, to listen to the actual stream, so it won't matter what is playing, just click listen live

Hey, this is a good idea. Also we could make suggestion of some other radio stations that we can put on there to. For example, if a friend makes one but does not get on here they can get some recognition too.

i like that idea, too

yeah so do i. i think that'd be good. i've tried to apply to become a dj for several but haven't got anywhere. if you go to www.whitestick.co.uk there is a radio station section on there with lots of links to stations. i've found a few new ones myself, but here would be good too.

Having a listen link to said stations would be good as well as the website below so one can visit the station directly.

I hope those who can add thigns onto the site are rading ths board. Seems folks are pretty positive about this idea. Since I know zilch about writing websites, haven't hte foggiest notion how complicated it would be or time-consuming to make such a page. I think it might be helpful if any Zoners who are currently broadcasters arrange to give whoever-it-is the latest sation info, as in latest version of their website at least, which would cut down on whoever-it-is having to actually go through the Broadcaster's Board and hunt down URL's and so forth.

I like both ideas it wouldnt take much that i know of as long as people submit there stuff

Post 11 by cuddle_kitten84 (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 27-Apr-2007 12:48:37

yeah all seems good to me.

Post 12 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 27-Apr-2007 18:28:54

How about a form? A form ware zoners submit stations and it gets aded to a list of links? Mantitory info would be:
1. Name Of Station
2. Format
3. Description of station
4. Station website title
5. Website URL
I think the listen links should be optional though.
Question is how do you go about updating, deleting, or changing anything if the station were to change URL'S, or station is off the air , etc?

if yo9u have a site you can put up your schedule on it or maybe a section can be created to list your scheduled times.

hmmm, all seems like a good idea to me, then we'd know what we were listening too etc.

I too am in favour of such a page, and I would want to take this a step further:
What about the Zone's very own radio station?
Was only wondering ...

Oh and btw Narcissa Malfoy, if you want to be broadcasting yourself, I know of at least 2 radio stations that are constantly looking for new talent, so if you're interested, send me a pm and I'll reply with all the info.

this sounds like exactly what our ads page does. Yes, you have to pay for the ads, but a lot of people advertise their radio stations on the top of most pages. As a result, I don't really think that a separate radio stations page is necessary, but I will talk to Chris and J about it, to see what they think, and the other CLs, as well.

Post 18 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Thursday, 03-May-2007 17:57:28

Not everryone is going to advertise they're station with the advertise with us feature.
However the one major difference could be that you have to be loggede in to the zone to access this feature unlike the advertising which anyone can see.

Of course, we will have to wait and see if US congress will allow Internet radio stations to continue after May 15, as I believe that there are threats of legislation that could be put into place to force these radio stations to pay astronomic royalty rates which would force them to shut down.
We're holding thumbs that this doesn't happen, of course.

This would be great!

Post 21 by cuddle_kitten84 (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 08-May-2007 11:09:59

has anything happened with the internet radio stations yet? thanks for that q, i am honestly looking for stations. i know of a few that haven't advertised with the zone. 107thephoenix for example haven't done this as of yet.

Post 22 by Q (Take my advice, I'm not using it anyhow.) on Tuesday, 08-May-2007 14:29:30

Hi Kay, the legislation comes before the US congress on May 15, so let's hope that the majority support the Internet Radio Equality Act that will stop this rate hike.
And btw, if you want to broadcast, give Kool360.com a try, I know Cactus Jack joined, and they're fun to work with, and very helpful.

thanks q, i didn't want people to think i was copying or following in the fiance's footsteps.

Post 24 by Q (Take my advice, I'm not using it anyhow.) on Wednesday, 09-May-2007 6:02:53

I don't think people would think that. But, a bit off the point, why don't you apply for a slot on the station as well? I am sure you would make it.

Post 25 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 09-May-2007 8:46:07

maybe on the page we could put what is playing on each station? It mightb e hard but it can be done.

Post 26 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Wednesday, 09-May-2007 11:44:20

I would think it would be easier to put a link to the song history then having the zone constantly updating it's self with what's playing on each station.
